<div itemprop="description">With much sadness, but gentle relief we announce that Anne passed away from Congestive Heart and Kidney failure Friday, September 11, 2015. After a stroke in 2011 she moved to and lived at Extendicare Eaux Claires in Edmonton, Alberta for just short of 4 years. A heartfelt thank you to the Health Care team on 3300, also the Therapy and Recreation staff for the never ending care and support Anne received. Many thanks to Dr. David Fields for the excellent care and compassion shown to Mom.<br /><br />Anne was born September 22, 1927 in the village of Stinka, Buchach region in the province of Ternopil in Western Ukraine. She made the journey to Canada with her mother and 2 brothers aboard the Empress of Australia arriving in Quebec on May 5, 1934. After a journey by rail across Canada they arrived to a homestead NW of Newbrook, AB where she met her father for the 1st time. After graduating from high school in Thorhild, AB she came to Edmonton where she attended Alberta College.<br /><br />Anne is survived by her daughter Lori (Roger) Longpre and her beloved grandson, Michael Longpre. She is also survived by her brother Steve (Josie) Stefaniuk and many nieces and nephews. Anne was predeceased by her husband Russ (2002), daughter Debby Sumka (2010), parents Lukyn and Paraska Stefaniuk, and brother Michael Stefaniuk. <br /><br />Anne&rsquo;s wishes were to have a private family service. In Anne&rsquo;s memory, please consider a donation to the Stollery Children&rsquo;s Hospital or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT &amp; Nunavut or a charity of one&rsquo;s choice.<br /><br />&ldquo;Resting with those she loved&hellip;&rdquo;</div>
